Book Review: Alpha's Obsession by Renee Rose and Lee Savino

Book Description

A werewolf, an owl shifter, and a scientist walk into a bar…

Sam

I was born in a lab, fostered out to humans, then tortured in a cage. Fate allowed me to escape, and I know why.

To balance the scales of justice. Right the misdeeds of the harvesters.

Nothing matters but taking down the man who made me what I am: A monster driven by revenge, whatever the cost.

Then I meet Layne. She thinks I’m a hero.

But she doesn’t understand—If I don’t follow this darkness to its end, it will consume me.

Layne

I’ve spent my life in the lab, researching the cure for the disease that killed my mom. No late nights out, no dates, definitely no boyfriend.

Then Sam breaks into my lab, steals my research, and kidnaps me. He’s damaged. Crazy. And definitely not human.

He and his friends are on a mission to stop the company that’s been torturing shifters, and now I’m a part of it.

Sam promises to protect me. And when he touches me, I feel reborn. But he’s hellbent on revenge. He won’t give it up.

My Review

Layne is just in her lab trying to get the break through she needs when Sam breaks in and steals her research and kidnaps her. She knows she needs to get away but Sam isn't human so she isn't sure she can get away anyway. She doesn't want to leave without her research either because it could help so many people but she doesn't know where the cells that she's been working with have come from until Sam tells her about the labs holding other paranormals that are being experimented on. But he's not mad at her because she didn't know or have anything to do with any of that, she just works in the lab.

Sam is broken ever since his time being experimented on in the labs. All he knows is that he needs to get revenge on those that had anything to do with his torture. He knows that Layne isn't involved but he takes her anyway because he feels something for her but that puts her in danger because now the people she works for thinks she's in cahoots with him and the stealing of her research. Her life is also in danger now.

Watching these two get to know each other better and see that the preconceived ideas they had about each other were wrong was fun. Watching Sam and his friends find the person responsible and try to take him down was an action filled fun time. I really liked the secondary characters and that's one of the reasons I keep reading this series. The world building is great and each book can be read as a standalone but if you read the series from the beginning you really get to know each of these characters better and the overarching storyline will make more sense.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Book Review: Ancient Retribution by Katie Reus

Book Description

A dragon princess once lost…

Juniper hunts down the most dangerous criminals on her black ops missions—and she’s good at it. A dragon shifter who was raised by wolves, she doesn’t know her birth clan and gave up trying to find them a hundred years ago. Since The Fall, when rogue dragons razed half the planet, she’s spent her days hunting down supernaturals who think they can escape justice, delivering her own. During a dangerous mission, she falls into the claws of a sexy warrior dragon adjusting to the modern world—and from the start she knows she’s in trouble.

Is now found…

Dragon shifter warrior Zephyr doesn’t fit into this new world. He doesn’t feel like he fits in anywhere—until he meets Juniper and her crew. He knows from the moment he sees the sexy and brave female dragon that they’re destined to be together. Unfortunately, life just got a whole lot more complicated. Not only are they in the fight of their lives against an overwhelming enemy force, but she’s royalty and her long-lost clan has come to bring her home. Even as they fight side by side to save hundreds of humans, he knows that winning her heart will be the hardest and most pivotal battle he’s ever waged. Juniper doesn’t want to get mated, doesn’t trust anyone with her heart—but this is one battle Zephyr will never stop fighting.

Author note: Though part of a series, this book may be read as a stand-alone, complete with HEA.

My Review

Juniper and her friends are out making sure that the most dangerous of supernaturals are brought to justice. While out of one of their missions they come across another dragon shifter and help him close a door that should not be open. Juniper is also a dragon shifter who was given up when she was younger and she has no idea which clan she belongs to. She's never felt a pull to a male dragon like she does to this new guy.

Zephyr was away for a long time and is just getting used to being around his brothers again. So when he comes across Juniper and her friends while he's trying to help keep everyone safe, he's feeling a pull to her like he's never felt before. But Juniper and her friends don't trust him right away.

Zephyr goes back to where Juniper and her friends live and asks if he can join them in fighting the dangerous criminals. He wants to join the group so he can be closer to her while they get to know one another better.

When new people show up to speak to Juniper, she gets the surprise of her life. That storyline was incredible. I won't say to much because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but it brought a tear to my eyes more than once.

I really liked watching Zephyr and Juniper get to know each other better and fall hard for each other. They really needed one another so it was great to see their relationship come together. I've really been enjoying this series and am excited to see who will get their story next. There are so many characters to choose from so it will be a surprise.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Apartment Life #313

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.

This palm tree is always in the way when I'm trying to take pictures on this side of the street. But hopefully you can make out the red fire truck and lights. On Monday the fire truck and ambulance showed up for drug dealer's wife. I found out from my neighbor that drug dealer's wife called my neighbor and asked for help because one of the meth heads tried to shoot her up with heroin (with her permission) in the leg but missed the vein and shot it in her leg which lead to an infection. But drug dealer's wife waited over a week to get help and by that time she couldn't walk. The meth and crack heads in her apartment wouldn't get her help because they didn't want to be kicked out of the apartment so they left her in her bed to suffer. She finally called my neighbor for help because she knew she would help her.

So my neighbor called an ambulance and told all the methheads to get out of the apartment when she was taken to the ER. But drug dealer's wife left one of the crackheads that she trusted to watch the two dogs in her apartment and to make sure that none of the other drug addicts broke into her apartment and stole anything but he's not supposed to let anyone else in the apartment.

On Tuesday I heard a bunch of yelling coming from drug dealer's apartment and when I saw my neighbor down there banging on the door, I went down there to see what was going on. She told me that there was a bunch of druggies in the apartment and they wouldn't open the door and leave. She was yelling for the one guy who is supposed to be there to open the door or she was going to call the police. I told her I would go call the police, so when they heard me I guess they opened the door and all but the one guy who is supposed to be there left. So I didn't have to call the police. The police would have made the one guy leave because he isn't on the lease and they would have taken the dogs to the pound and my neighbor didn't want to see that happen.

But drug dealer's wife is in the hospital. Her leg got infected, she's septic, in and out of consciousness and the infection has moved to the bone in her leg. She is really bad shape. Her husband (drug dealer) is still in jail until August. I've seen people knocking on drug dealer's door but the one guy hasn't been letting anyone else in there. So it's just wait and see what happens at this point.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Freebie Friday!

Welcome to another weekly Freebie Friday post, where I tell you what free samples and full sized products I received in the mail and how you can get them too. Someone asked me why I do a "Freebie Friday" each week, so I'll tell you.

A while back I listed all the free samples and wins that I had received that previous year and so many people didn't believe that I could have gotten so many free things. So I decided to prove it by taking a picture every week and sharing the sites that I found the links to the freebies at. So now you too can get great free samples coming to your mailbox each week.

You can find links to great samples at Hey It's Free and Freebie Shark.

I received a Little Freebies Box from Bloomingdales.

I also received samples of face cleanser, moisturizer and other face creams from Riversol.

And samples of Purifico shampoo and body wash pods. I did pay a small shipping and handling fee for these.

The little Freebies Box contained:
Valentino Donna Born in Roma Coral Fantasy perfume.
Creed Wild Flowers perfume.
Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in the color pillow talk.
MCM perfume.

I really liked all the perfumes. The lipstick is alright but not really my color.

The Purifico shampoo pods are nice. They come in little sealed pods that break open under water and it works good as well as smells good. They can be used as body wash as well.

I've started using the Riversol samples I received and I will say the cleanser and moisturizer are really good. That's all I've used so far.

Did you receive any freebies this week?

Book Review: Alpha's Danger by Renee Rose and Lee Savino

Book Description

“YOU BROKE THE RULES, LITTLE HUMAN. I OWN YOU NOW.”

I am an alpha wolf, one of the youngest in the States. I can pick any she-wolf in the pack for a mate. So why am I sniffing around the sexy human attorney next door? The minute I catch Amber’s sweet scent, my wolf wants to claim her.

Hanging around is a bad idea, but I don’t play by the rules. Amber acts all prim and proper, but she has a secret, too. She may not want her psychic abilities, but they’re a gift.

I should let her go, but the way she fights me only makes me want her more. When she learns what I am, there’s no escape for her. She’s in my world, whether she likes it or not. I need her to use her gifts to help recover my missing sister—and I won’t take no for an answer.

She’s mine now.

Publisher’s Note: Alpha’s Danger is a stand-alone book in the Bad Boy Alpha’s series. HEA guaranteed, no cheating. This book contains a hot, demanding alpha wolf with a penchant for protecting and dominating his female. If such material offends you, do not buy this book.

My Review

When Amber finds out that the three huge, scary looking dudes have moved in to the apartment next to her she's not happy and thinks she might be in danger. So she does the only thing she can, she complains to the person in charge who then tells the guy next door what she said about him. Talk about awkward. But Amber is also attracted to one of the guys and he's made it clear that he's attracted to her too. But she's not going to act on it, is she? Amber also has a secret, she has visions sometimes. She's tried to repress them so she doesn't see some of the awful things that her visions have shown her but that only gives her really bad headaches.

After Garrett and his friends flirt with Amber in the elevator a little, he's not sure why he's so taken with the little human. He and his friends are werewolves and he's expected to mate with a she-wolf and be in charge of his own pack. He can't do that with a human but that doesn't stop him from being attracted to her. So when he sees her the next time and she's in the middle of an awful migraine, he helps her get back to her apartment and shows her that he's not the scary guy she thinks he is.

Amber has a vision of him and finds out his secrets. But that puts her in danger and when she almost let's a secret slip to her friend, Garrett insists that she come with him to help find his missing sister, Sedona. Amber isn't happy about it but there's not much she can do to escape three werewolves. The longer Amber and Garrett spend together, the closer they get and the more they want each other. There are some BDSM scenes in this book but they weren't violent and for me just added to the spice of the scene. These two were really good for each other and I was glad to see an HEA at the end of this book.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Product Review: Daily Goodie Box- July

The Daily Goodie Box has been around since about July of 2016. I signed up for an account right after I heard about them. They are 100% free, you don't even have to pay for shipping. And for a free box it's a nice sampler box of products.

What was in the box?

Tranquini - Wellness Drink-  I had the hibiscus flavored drink and it was good. I would drink this again.

RareEssence - Stress Relief Roll-on Oil- You're supposed to rub this on your pulse points and the scent is supposed to relax you. The scent was nice but when I want to relax I like an ocean scent. But this does have a nice scent.

Artisana Organics - Nut Butters Variety- I received 4 different flavors of these nut butters. I've had this before and really liked them. They taste really good. Chocolate and nuts are my favorite combination though.

Buddah Brands - Keto Bars- These are actually not bad at all. I received two different flavors and both were good.

Dr. Botanicals - Lemon Superfood Rescue Butter-  This is a good lotion for dry skin. I just wish it had a nice scent to it. There's not much of a scent at all to it and I really like a scented lotion. But that's just my preference.

Beauty Without Cruelty - Leave-In Conditioner- This leave in conditioner smells slightly of lavender but it's not over powering and it's a nice conditioner. It left my hair soft and shiny.

Daily Crunch Snacks - Sprouted Nut Snacks- These almonds are sprouted which means they are soaked in water, germinated and then left with a hollow core which makes them a little crunchier. They have a good taste to them though.

2x4 Health - Heart Health- This is supposed to be good for your heart while giving you a boost of energy. I didn't feel more energetic but if it's good for my heart I'll keep taking it. The taste isn't great so hiding it in a smoothie or something is best.

All they ask you to do is try the products and leave reviews for the products you got in order to be eligible for more Free Goodie Boxes. As you guys already know, I'm a fan of all these types of boxes. I love all the different subscription boxes and it's really nice to be able to try new to me products for free. This is a great box to try for.

Oh and one more thing, if you visit their FB Page, they give away Goodie Boxes to people who interact with their posts. So if you've tried before and weren't able to get a Goodie Box, there's even more ways to get one now.

Have you signed up? Have you received one of these boxes?

I'm a fan of subscription boxes and love trying new products for free so this was a huge hit with me. New products+free box = Fabulous!

Disclosure: I was given and free box in exchange for a review but all opinions are my own.

Book Review: Bright Like Wildfire by Juliette Cross

Book Description

Bennett has no idea why Betty Mouton hates him.

Other than the time he accidentally hit her boobs with a glitter bomb in their community theater performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” he’s been nothing but helpful and accommodating. But that notorious “incident” happened nine years ago. Time for the gorgeous redhead to get over it and admit to the real chemistry between them, not just the on-stage kind.

Betty is in trouble.

She may have gotten her dream role in a production by her favorite playwright, but there’s a big problem. Her romantic lead is that cocky, annoyingly hot know-it-all Bennett Broussard. And when the fake touching and fake kissing start to feel way too real, Betty realizes one thing. She better act her heart out or finally admit that Bennett has stolen hers.

My Review

Betty and Bennett are both in a play but Betty doesn't like Bennett ever since he had a glitter bomb go off on her shirt, embarrassing her in front of the people in the theatre. But Bennett doesn't understand why Betty is mad at him and can't fathom that it has anything to do with the glitter bomb that happened so many years go. So when Bennett opens a grocery store and the traffic from the grand opening makes Betty late for her high school teacher job, she let's him know how irritated everything he does makes her.

When Bennett gets the male lead part in the play that Betty is the female lead in, she isn't sure she'll be able to act like she likes him for it. But that's before he turns on the charm and she sees another side to him. Betty is an English teacher and I loved that about her. She's great with the kids and they like her for it. Because this is a small town romance, it seems like everyone knows everyone else's business which can be funny at times. Other times, not so much.

Betty just bought a little house and her next door neighbor has goats that get through their fence all the time and end up in Betty's yard which was funny on more than one occasion. The goats made me laugh.

Once Bennett and Betty start spending more time together to run lines and practice, I found it endearing that Bennett was the one that fell for Betty first. He can see what a wonderful person she is and she slowly comes around to seeing that he isn't as bad as she first thought. Once that happens the fireworks are lit and this became a steamy, romantic read. Oh and Bennett, he's a naughty, naughty man. I loved it.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Apartment Life #312

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.

My daughter was outside and this tiny kitten ran up to her, let her pick him up and when she did she could tell he needed help. He was tiny and all skin and bones. She brought him inside and gave him some wet food and water. We wanted to keep him but we're both allergic to cats. My eyes started swelling and getting red right away. So we called Animal Control to come get him. Falcor wanted to play with him so bad but the cat kept hissing at him. So we kept them separated until Animal Control got here which was only about 20 minutes.

The Animal Control lady said that because he's so young and friendly that he might be adopted pretty easily. But if not they will neuter him, clip his ear and drop him back in our neighborhood. I hate that they do that to cats here. A lot of time the cats end up hungry, sick or hit by cars. It makes no sense to me. So we'll keep an eye out for him to see if he's back in the neighborhood anytime soon. If he is, I'll start buying cat food and putting it out for him. There's 2 ladies across the street that feed the street cats that live over there.

I saw my neighbor had parked their truck in front of my window this week. These two elderly people will sit in their truck every single morning until around noon. Doesn't matter if it's hot, cold or in between. They've been doing it for years. They love to gossip and everyone in the neighborhood will go over and talk to them. If I want to know about something that happened on my street all I have to do is wait a couple of days and then go talk to them. Sometimes they'll know what happened.

The high this week was 110F/43C
The low this week was 76F/24C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Book Review: Tiger's Daughter (Shifters Unbound book 14) by Jennifer Ashley

Book Description

The mate bond has never been this strong ...

Connor Morrissey hits his Transition—hard—and Shiftertown braces for chaos. His transformation into a fully adult Shifter comes early and is lightning fast, heightened by Connor’s very special heritage. Connor spirals out of control, ready to fight for his place in the hierarchy, and his instincts tell him his place is very high.

Only the touch of Tiger-girl cuts across Connor’s pain ...

She’s there for him, beautiful, powerful, but a fish out of water, struggling to makes sense of the real world. As Tiger’s daughter, she’s more than an ordinary Shifter, inheriting Tiger’s strength and intelligence in addition to the enhancements the Shifter Bureau black ops team made to her in secret.

Then Connor is captured by those who will use him to enhance their own power. Tiger-girl knows the mate bond is forming between them—losing Connor will tear her apart. But can she risk being found by the man who wants to turn Tiger-girl into the most deadly Shifter of all time?

Now Tiger-girl must choose between her safety or exposing her whereabouts to free him ...

My Review

Connor Morrissey is going through his transition too soon. He's a lion shifter and the transition from cub to full grown adult lion shifter is hard. He feels out of control until Tiger-girl's touch calms him enough not to be completely out of control. Tiger-girl is Connor's mate but he tries to fight the pull towards her because he's afraid of his strength and doesn't want to hurt her. But she's not afraid of him.

When Connor is kidnapped she goes along because she can do nothing else as his mate. Their family takes action when they realize what's happened and rescues them but now they know something fishy is going on. When danger comes for them again, they have each other to lean on but a new danger appears and a new storyline is unveiled in this series. I'm completely excited to see where this will go in the next books.

I was on the edge of my seat when the backstory of Connor and Tiger-girls mom's were revealed. The gifts they both inherited from their mother's as well as Connor from his father's side was mind blowing and I don't use that phrase lightly. They both come out of this stronger and the series just got even more exciting. I've been reading this series for years and the books and storyline just gets better and better. You have to read this series if you like shifters, wonderful world building and great storylines.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Book Review: Wild Fever by Donna Grant

Book Description

A WOMAN’S PASSION Olivia Breaux left the small Cajun town the day of her high school graduation and never looked back. Until an unfortunate event sends her home ten years later. Returning to her hometown brings back memories and long held desires for the impossibly gorgeous – and aloof – Vincent. A HUNTER’S DESIRE Handsome, resilient Vincent Chiasson takes his job as hunter to supernatural beings in the bayous seriously. When an unknown creature begins killing women the Chiasson family has contact with, Vincent knows this has something to do with his parents’ deaths years earlier. To make matters worse, the one woman he’s yearned to call his own has returned – and is targeted by the beast. He’ll have to face his past – and confront his future – to save Olivia…

My Review

Vincent has been hunting supernatural beings ever since his parents were killed by one. He knows his life is too dangerous to bring anyone else into so he didn't pursue Olivia when she had lived near him even though he's sure she's the one for him. He's not sure he would survive if his wife or kids were to be killed by some of the monsters he hunts. So it was better for them both when she moved away ten years earlier. But now she's moved back to town and all those old feelings are back.

But there's a creature hunting and killing women and now it's after Olivia. He has no choice but to try and keep her safe which means she has to comes to terms with the fact that he hunts paranormal creatures and never stopped caring for her.

Once the killer is revealed they were all shocked as was I. This was a short novella but I think there was enough story packed in there to make it worth a read.

I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Book Review: Wolf in the Night by N.J. Walters

Book Description

Driving home from a trip, Emma Matheson is run off the road in an abduction attempt. Seems the alpha of her father’s former pack never forgave his defection. To settle the old score, he plans to force her to mate with a male of his choosing—his son, Dmitri.

Dmitri Gribkov wants no part of his father’s revenge. A loner by choice, nothing has prepared him for sexy, stubborn Emma. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect her—even if it means losing her.

Determined to control her destiny, she does her best to escape, even as the attraction between her and Dmitri sizzles. Doesn’t take long for her to realize this huge, sexy wolf is a protector at heart.

Tracking and killing are what he does best. Before this is over, he’ll have blood on his hands, but winning her love will be the hardest battle.

My Review

Dmitri and Emma meet right after she is driven off the road by another car. The men who get out of the car are from her father's old pack and their alpha has sent them to kidnap her and bring her back so she can mate with his son, Dmitri. But Dmitri doesn't want this and has been tracking these wolf shifters to stop whatever his father sent them to do. He doesn't even realize that Emma is also a wolf shifter right away but he knows he has to save her and stop the men.

Dmitri gets Emma into his truck and takes off while the other wolves are in hot pursuit but they get a bit of a head start. Emma isn't sure if she can trust him and when he tells her who he is, she's even less likely to trust him. She tries to flee when the timing is right but he's able to catch her and bring her back fairly easy. it takes a while before Emma starts to believe that he's trying to save her and not bring her back to his father. Emma convinces Dmitri to let her call her father and the alpha of her pack and they tell her and Dmitri that they should head there to them. But Dmitri isn't sure it's a good idea, not knowing if they can win in a fight against his father and the pack of guys he has. Plus he's not sure her pack will trust him enough to give him a chance and he's not leaving Emma now that he knows she's his mate. The pull and the attraction between them is off the charts and he's not giving her up without a fight.

Her father and the alpha are skeptical of him at first but he proves to them that he's who he says he is and cares about Emma. There's a huge fight when Dmitri's father thinks he can overpower not only his son but Emma's pack. I had a great time with this book.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Disclosure: I was given a free e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Apartment Life #311

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.

These two people were sitting on the sidewalk right outside my window smoking on the crack pipe Monday evening. The dude passed out but she kept still hitting the crack pipe. I should say they were smoking from a glass pipe that is a lot of times used for meth and crack but as someone pointed out to me that other drugs can be smoked from the glass pipes as well. Since the guy passed out and meth and crack are both stimulants, it stands to reason that they were either smoking some other drug or he overdosed and it had the opposite effect on him.

I looked outside about an hour later to see if they were still there and she had left but he was still there passed out on the sidewalk. It was about 105F/40c at that time and he had on a jacket so I was a little worried about him. I called 911 and had medics come check him out. Just wanted to make sure he wasn't dead or overdosed on drugs. They woke him up, checked him out and let him go. I would have felt bad if I did nothing and he was dead or sick or something.

---

So if you look really hard you might be able to make out the tire and small amount of the police car on the right side of this palm tree. LOL

The tree was in the way when I was trying to take a picture from my window. But the police showed up in my courtyard when my neighbors daughter and son in law were at her apartment and they started fighting. The police said it was mutual combat but neither of them wanted to press charges on the other and the police left. I'm really surprised they didn't both go to jail for mutual combat because I've seen that happen a few times around here.
---
There was a woman in the pool courtyard where the bank of mailboxes are that came out and started yelling at my daughter. She said for her to tell her mother (me) to stop breaking into the pool with all the drug addicts and let her dogs go swimming.

I promise you it wasn't me. LOL

So my daughter asked her what the lady looked like and it turned out she was talking about drug dealer's wife! LOL

So my daughter told her it wasn't me and told her what I look like. So it turns out that the lock on the swimming pool is broken and drug dealer's wife has been taking her houseful of druggies out to the pool mostly at night when maintenance is gone after 5pm and she's letting the 3 dogs that are also living in her place in the pool too and it's pissing off the people in the pool courtyard.

Favorite Song of the Week

I heard Visions of Atlantis for the first time this week and really liked this song. I think it's because they reminded me of what Nightwish sounded like back when Tarja was still with them.

This week I received:

A box of LED lightbulbs.
A insulated mug with lid.

I can always use more lightbulbs. I actually only had one lightbulb in my bedroom ceiling fan and needed more so this came in handy.

The insulated mug is good for both hot and cold beverages and keeps your beverage hot or cold for hours. I poured some hot coffee in this mug, put the lid on and 2 hours later it was still really warm. That never happens with my regular mugs. I love this.

I received both items from Walmart Spark Reviewer which is by invitation only so I cannot give you a link to sign up.

Did you receive any freebies this week?

Book Review: Wickedest Witch by Eve Langlais

Book Description

Thank you for engaging the services of Wicked Incorporated, where the insults are given for free.

Evangeline is not a very nice witch, and she’s not afraid to show it. Her ruthless nature comes in handy as a problem solver until she lands a job where she’s forced to work with an uncouth shifter. He’s rude, cocky, totally unsuitable, not to mention part animal, but despite it all, she can’t help craving his touch.

Ryker is big, bad, and brash. When he’s partnered with a curvy witch, he does everything in his power to fight her allure. And fails. But he’s not too disappointed as he discovers wickedness has its uses, especially in the bedroom.

Vampires, a wedding from hell, and a cackling boss named Rumpelstiltskin make this an adventure packed, humorous paranormal romance sure to make you smile.

My Review

Ryker and Evangeline (Eva) get hired by Rumpelstiltskin to be body guards for his daughter at a wedding. Just so happens the wedding is for Evangeline's sister who is marrying the son of the Devil. Rumple says that he thinks his ex wife is going to try and kidnap his daughter and when that turns out not to be the case he has other things he thinks might happen but he's not sure which one of the scenarios is going to happen so Eva and Ryker have to investigate and be on the lookout for different things that might happen.

Eva is known as the wickedest witch and because of some of the things she's done, people are afraid of her but not Ryker. Her magic doesn't work on him because she's a shifter. The pull they both feel made it funny to watch them both try to work and not give in to their lust. It doesn't last long because he's sure that she's his mate and he wants her badly. But she's feeling that pull to be with him too. Ryker's mother wants him to find a nice shifter female to settle down with and carry on the family so she's not happy when she finds out he's sniffing after a witch. But Eva has no problem living up to her name and teaching his mother to keep her opinions to herself.

It was fun to finally see what Rumplestiltskin was worried about and what was really going on. I liked the ending and plan on reading the first book in this series now.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
