Christmas Candy?
Hello, My name is Mary and I might be a candyholic. Do I have candy all over my apartment? Maybe. I don't eat as much as it as I used to but my grandson loves my obsession. I just like the way candy looks in bowls and jars. I like the bright colors and yes I like the taste of candy too. But I don't eat as much of it anymore.
I think I started doing this for Christmas because of my grandma. She always had bowls of different kinds of candy out all the time but especially around Christmas time.
Buttermints and an assortment of candies.
The Jelly Beans were replaced with gumballs because I like the scent of those more. LOL
A couple of glass jars with some Christmas candy.
Chocolate Truffles in one bowl and toffee in another.
Salt water taffy.
A few years ago I did this. I mixed a bowl with Skittles, Reeses Pieces and M&M's in the bowl. For those who haven't had these candies, they look the same but taste different. One is chocolate, one is peanut butter and one is fruity. Mixing them together was funny because anyone who takes a little handful is thinking it's all M&M's and it's not. LOL Surprise!
Do you like candy? Do you have a favorite Christmas candy? Do you put out candy bowls around Christmas time?

Christmas Decorations Around My Apartment
The tree is up. (Click on any pictures to make them larger)
The corner shelf. All those tiny Christmas Tree's I made out of pine cones.
Here's a couple of closer pictures. I painted the pine cones, hot glued them to tiny terra cotta vases, put some beads, glitter and ribbon on them and I think they came out cute.
My daughter made this. She bought the vase, lights and all the little things inside it and put it together. I think it came out cute.
The shelf between the kitchen and living room.
My desk.
Lights on the shelf.
The living room window.
The door. My daughter made this wreath.
Falcor the elf.
The holly berry wreath above the door.
The stockings.
The wreath had been on the inside door but you couldn't really see it so my daughter hung it on the outside door with some garland around it.
We hung garland around the hall entry and a stocking in the hall.
The bookshelf has some garland around it and Christmas tree and reindeer statues on top.
And my Christmas puppies in baskets.
There you have it. We're all ready for Christmas now.

Christmas Cookies
Ok so Christmas cookies. Do you have a favorite one?
I'm partial to gingerbread cookies but I like them all.
There aren't too many cookies I can say I don't like.
Do you leave milk and cookies out for Santa?
I decorated some cookies back when my daughter was little but I haven't done it in a while and they did NOT come out as nice as these. lol
Sugar cookies are good and the easiest to make.
So do you have a favorite cookie? Will you be baking any this month?

Everyone Has A Story, Here's One Of Mine
I've been thinking of writing an autobiography or memoir but it just never comes together for me but I figured if I write one story at a time and post it on my blog maybe once a month, I can do that. Maybe one day I'll pull all the stories together and put them in a book but for now I'll just share some stories with you about my childhood. Some of the stories will be happy, some sad and some horrific because that was my childhood. But they will all be real, things that actually happened. If it seems like something that people enjoy reading maybe I'll keep it going. These stories will not be in any kind of order, I'll just write them as they come to me.
Why I didn't have friends spending the night like other kids did.
When I was about 9 years old, one of my neighbor friends wanted to have like a slumber party at my house since I usually spent the night at her house. We asked my mom and she said yes. I had a queen size bed so both of us 9 year olds fit in my bed just fine.
It was the weekend so my parents were drinking and they ended up getting into a huge fight where my dad hit my mom and we heard the entire thing. My poor friend was laying there next to me all wide eyed for hours. Early the next morning we got up because she just wanted to go home as fast as possible. But when we got out to the living room, my parents were completely naked laying on the floor. The living room was completely trashed. Things were broken and all over the floor. My mom's face was all bloody but I knew better than to wake either of them up because they would take their anger out on me if I did.
She tiptoed out the door and ran home. I went back to my room and went back to sleep. When I got up later, the living room was cleaned up and my mom didn't even remember that my friend had been there the night before. She never asked about her and my friend never spoke to me again. I don't blame her. I'm actually surprised that her parents didn't come over to my house raising hell about what had happened but I don't know if she told her parents what had happened or not.

Apartment Life #345
This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 25 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 25 years here in a weekly blog post.
On Monday, The fire department was back on my street, this time because one of the homeless people fell down a vertical manhole to the sewer and other homeless people called the fire department said that his leg was broken so they had to lower someone down the manhole to get this man out of there and get him help.
Some of the homeless people stay down in the sewer to keep warm when it's not raining and flooded. There's an extensive tunnel system under Las Vegas that homeless people use to stay out of the elements. The fire department was able to lower someone with a backboard to strap the man to it and hoist him out of there.
They put him on a stretcher and off to the ER he went. One of the homeless people said at least one leg was broken pretty badly.
All in all it took about 2 hours to get him out and for the fire department to pack up all the gear they used.
The high this week was 67F/19C
The low this week was 39F/3C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Happy Christmas Month!
Tomorrow starts Christmas Month. So I will be adding a few posts this month Christmas related. So let's start this month off right and post about Krampus first. Who is Krampus? He is Santa's evil counterpart. While Santa gives all the good boys and girls presents, Krampus punishes the bad boys and girls. You don't want to get on this guys bad side, so you better be good or he'll be coming for ya!
Is this a little dark for Christmas? Well this blog is called, "Dark Thoughts" after all. Bwahahaha!
